Our First Blog Post

This is us!

Welp, I spose, we should start with an introduction. We always say to starting at the beginning, but in full disclosure, the title of the blog is already out of date. So… The beginning for all of this was back in July 2019 according to WordPress.

So here is the story, of us:

We lost Deanna’s Mom that spring of 2019. We knew my Moms’ side of the family was going to be doing a family reunion in summer 2020. We had talked about going, as that is the side of my family that I knew the most about and always felt the most kinship with. After the dust settled for Deanna she said something one day that I never expected to hear her say: “Let’s buy an camper. I miss camping, but if we are going to get one I want a motorhome. One that we can drive and don’t have to worry about a vehicle to tow it”. We looked around for a while and ended up finding one that was about an hour from home we wanted to look at. We went, we saw, we had some concerns, but we ended up pulling the trigger! We brought home a 26′ class c Coachmen motorhome. We worked on it, and worked on it, but with our son just starting homeschool high school, Dave working full time, and finding time for life. We were never able to get it water tight. I almost forgot to mention Trixie, our 5lb black chihuahua. She was the inspiration for A Tiny Dong and a Big RV!

We ended up parking it over the winter. As spring started to come into view in 2020, we started shopping for something different. We went to Kunes RV in Sheboygan and fell in love with our current rig: a 28′ 2012 Coachman Freelander. We were so excited, signed the paperwork, filled out the loan application, got approved, and set up delivery to us the next Saturday! Remember when I said 2020? Yup, that 2020. We got through the weekend, headed to work on Monday, came home, and then we heard we were “shut’ner down fir 2 week to flatten the curve”. Great! We just signed up for healthy size loan, on something we may or may not be able to use. How is all this gonna work?

Well it did, it worked well enough Deanna made us our own little jingle about 2 tiny dogs and a BIG RV! Yup, 2. Late summer 2019 is when we met and fell in love with Treats, our 6lb milk chocolate PomChi (Pomerarian & Chihuahua mix).

Starting this summer we hope to get more serious about posting on here. We will tell you about our camping adventures, our favorite places we have stayed, our trips, Deanna is even gonna write about our Caribbean cruise! Spoiler alert; we loved it so much we booked another one for February 2025! Leave a comment and ask Deanna about her pet iguanas or “her” turtle she can track through the Florida Keys.
